What EXIF metadata holds
Cameras and phones write a block of information into the file alongside the picture: camera make and model, lens, exposure time, aperture, ISO, the date the photo was taken, orientation, and sometimes GPS coordinates. This tool parses that block directly from the file and lists the tags it can read.
Why a file may show nothing
Metadata is routinely stripped. Social platforms remove it on upload, screenshots never had any, and most editors and export pipelines drop it as well. An empty result usually means the file genuinely carries no EXIF block rather than that the tool failed. PNG and WebP files rarely contain EXIF at all.
A privacy note
Photos taken on a phone with location services enabled can carry precise GPS coordinates. If you publish original camera files anywhere, it is worth checking what is inside them first — which is exactly what this tool is for.
